Sometimes the best trips come from the most random inspiration...my girl's getaway weekend with Allison is definitely one such case. Originally, a potential destination for Allison's bachelorette, we really planned this whole trip around the AirBnB 60s camper that Allison spotted after a random "campers and airstreams" search on Pinterest. Add in my love for country/americana/singer song writer/folk music and our joint obsession with, well, tasty food - and this trip was born. Here's our joint Pinterest board with all our top Nashville picks. Highlights below, but you can find all our photos here.
Our Ride:
After a slight mix-up with what we *thought* was going to be our fun Barbie Jeep wheels for the weekend, Hertz offered us a deal we couldn't pass up on a Mustang Convertible. I love driving with the top down, so this was a no brainer. The weekend weather was warm, but lovely and sunny. Our ride - Mustang Sally - showed us a good time down in Nashville.
Our Digs: The Shasta:
Al and I fell madly in love with this place as soon as we pulled up: cute little street in East Nashville, tree swing out front, private back entrance, fire pit, twinkle lights, and the cutest refurbished camper I've certainly ever seen. I would come back in a heartbeat. Only flaw? Can't bring your professional basketball player friends (or really anyone ever 6 feet) - not an issue for us though.

Friday:
- We started off with lunch (obviously) at a great local spot called Mas Tacos. Yum - we went for 3 each + Elote + Aqua Fresca. I'd recommend 2 tacos each and sides. It was no Titos Tacos (but really, what can really compare), but man, they were good.
- After filling our bellies, we decided to get our shopping on, and checked out Marathon Village & a bunch of shops along 12th Ave South.
- Kept our caffeine intake high with multiple stops at Frothy Monkey and picked up some Rose to bring home for an alfresco pre-dinner drink at The Shasta.
- After some Rose, a disco nap and a luxurious cleanse in our private outdoor shower, we gussied up and headed out on the town. First stop was tasting menu dinner at The Catbird Seat, followed by some live music, two-stepping and beers on Broadway (Acme, Roberts, etc)

Saturday:

- Slept in (YAY, it was vacation after all) and then to Loveless Cafe for a BBQ Brunch. The wait was long, so we got it to go and enjoyed stuffing our faces full of BBQ and sweet tea at a shady picnic table on the grounds.
- From there we drove to Franklin and walked around this quaint little town. A few cute shops, a cute cowboy and some great boots I ALMOST bought, but nothing to write home about.

- We were in the mood for some libations, so we headed to Jackalope Brewing Co for some tasty local brews (it was opened by two gals / bestfriends) and some Drinking Jenga. Good times and great brews. Highly recommend. I can't wait until they start selling outside TN.

- After the brews, we were obviously hungry, so headed to Hattie B's for some hot chicken. The wait was a bit long (~45 min) but well worth it. We took it to go and enjoyed a little backyard BBQ picnic back at The Shasta.

- We sampled the mild, medium and hot versions. The hot was DEFINITELY HOT, but sooooo good!
- We started out with some grand plans for the evening, but decided to kick back, open a few beers and enjoy the evening at The Shasta.
Sunday:
- We kicked off the morning with coffee and the best breakfast sandwich of my life at Barista Parlor - a hipster paradise in East Nashville (and only a 5 minute walk from our digs).

- We strolled through the hood and ended up at Sky Blue Cafe for the best Nutella / banana french toast pancakes - yum!
- After 2nd lunch, we headed back to The Shasta for some R&R, a last outdoor shower and to pack up. It was sad to say goodbye to this adorable abode.
- We headed to the highly recommended The Pinewood Social for some booze, bowling and burger. I bowled the best game of my life...153! This place was awesome. Such a great place to chill, delicious drinks and a really fun retro vibe. I hope we'll make it back someday!

- We had a little extra time before we needed to head to the airport, so we made one last (delicious!) stop at Las Paletas for some gourmet popsicles. YUM YUM YUM. We both got Pineapple Chili.
- Bad news: our flight was delayed about 2 hours. Good news: the airport has live music and good beer. We checked out some tunes, enjoyed hotdogs at Tootsies (the airport location) and headed home.
I loved Nashville. The people were so nice, the food was awesome, the live music was killer and the company was the best. It was so fun to have 1 last girls-getaway with my bestie before she heads down the aisle. I'm so glad she found that camper on Pinterest...

Another awesome trip with two awesome gals! I miss the packing pics, though! Glad to see you're still eating well; I'm on a strict home-cooked meal diet after the NYC visit!
